I have to say, the worst part of this is Obama’s trotting out of old strawmen. It’s pretty insulting to us to still be claiming that Romney’s tax cuts/tax loophole closing will be increasing the federal deficit by $5 trillion. Romney has after all said that he’ll offset it by tax loopholes right in front of Obama (and the original study which lead to that number was a bit of guesswork anyway). Whether there’s enough to be “revenue neutral” is an unanswered question, but one expects some change of argument.
Obama is a pyromanic in a field of strawmen of his own construction. Last week, he found out what happens when he comes up against the genuine article able to speak for himself instead of just another strawman. He got his ass handed to him.
