It mentions that they may sleep the least of any mammal, and having switched primarily to sonar and hunting the dark ocean depths, why would they need to stay locked to Earth’s day/night cycle, anyway?
Perhaps the pod isn’t sleeping at all. Perhaps they’re listening to Orca Simmons singing “Strettttttchhhhh that back! Relax those swimming muscles and feel all the kinks melt away!”
Then again, it doesn’t really look like Jazzercize. It looks more like a Yoga class where they’re all in a trance going “Ohhhhmmmm….”, with one whale in the background swimming normally, thinking “This pod has gone sooo totally metrosexual. Screw this. I’m going to go eat some calamari and trash some bottom dwellers.”
