It was apparently too much even for Howie Kurtz.

The anti-Romney press is behaving like spoiled children. Nothing new there.

Yes, Harry Reid’s accusations are unfair.
On the other hand, it is ironic that the son of the man who started the tradition of releasing multiple years of tax returns is hoisted on his dad’s petard.
It’s also ironic – does anybody think Bain Capital would invest in a company based on two year’s financial data?
Yeah, only two years of financial data.
I looked at the Obama’s tax returns that were published on the Web in 2008. What I saw was prior to their grabbing the brass ring with the success of “Dream of my Father”, they were living hand-to-mouth on a quarter-million dollar income. I am thinking this is where the “$250,000” dividing line came from, dividing Rich from Poor.
How do I know the Obama’s were spending every dime they made? I do my own income taxes, for years by hand but for the last at least 20 years using tax software. I know my way around “the forms” and I know what has to go on them.
The Obamas had next to nothing on Schedule B, Interest and Dividend income. A family of four is pulling in a quarter-mil a year and has zilch for savings? Yeah, yeah, paying student loans on those fancy Ivy League law degrees, OK, OK, making payments on a “nice” house, and weren’t the kids in the Lab School in Chicago or something? A “nest egg” comes later, when the book becomes a Best Seller.
The Obama tax returns screamed volumes, not so much about the President’s prior financial state but about his world view, that you spent every dollar you have (and a lot that you don’t) because everything you spend money on is an economic or a social necessity. And that bringing in a quarter million a year is barely enough to keep your head above water. Michelle Obama in a moment of “over sharing” on the ’08 campaign trail said as much.
As to U.S. Navy Captain (equivalent to a Marine or Army Full Colonel) John McCain’s tax returns, never looked at them, but there was some discussion about his finances. He didn’t know how many (plural) houses he owned (remember that one?), because, he didn’t own any! He was a Kept Man, locked down by an iron-clad pre-nup, because as a younger man he was a Bad Boy in the “It Was Very Good Year” sense. In the way many of us men envy, that is, but not really if we thought about it. Tells you about the man’s character, Ross Perot just hated the man with a white hot hate for not conforming to Mr. Perot’s moral code, but don’t know how that would affect his presidency.
As to Mr. Romney, who cares about his tax returns. You know he has a ton of money, maybe not as much as the Kennedys, but a lot. I kinda think he gives his tithe (10%) to the Latter Day Saints, a second tithe to the needy, and sits on a lot of money. Next quetion?

One of these things is not like the other. I’ll demand that Romney release his tax returns when Obama releases his college transcripts.
Romney could release an ad showing his birth certificate.

A pre-refuted argument!
A pre-refuted argument!
An autogram! 🙂
It doesn’t matter how many tax returns Romney releases, he will be attacked for being wealthy by another wealthy man either way. The interesting thing is that Democrats and their media ally is pushing the lie that Rommey hasn’t released any tax returns.
Nobody’s claiming he didn’t release ANY tax returns. They are correctly an accurately stating he’s released one year (2010) and an estimate for another (2011). They are wondering if, as his father said, he “cleaned up his act for a year.”
Actually there was an AP article by Jim Kuhnhenn and Phil Elliott a week or two ago that was an attack on Romney not releasing tax returns and it failed to mention that he already had released one. I didn’t book mark it but it had the word “unrelenting” in its title.
Romney didn’t even release a complete 2010 return; he omitted his Report on Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR) filing.
Obama didn’t release his birth certificate.
He didn’t even release his complete 2010 return; he held back the FBAR filing on offshore accounts. His 2011 return has presumably been filed with the IRS, but it hasn’t been released to the public.
Ten years would be nice, but I think 2009 is the key year.
Much ado about nuthin. I don’t care if he’s Capone regarding his taxes. He’s a rich guy. All rich guys try to protect their assets from this insane government.
I’ll care about Mitt’s taxes when the voters start caring about this country.
The only reason the Democrats are so desperate to find some issue here is because he has an “R” after his name instead of a “D”. There are plenty of guys just like Romney on their team. These wailings can be safely ignored.
I think it is a losing issue for Obama. There’s a long list of things Obama hasn’t released. But admittedly, its a boring subject. A talkingpoint with little value. Nobody will care about Romney’s tax returns, when we tried Obama’s plan and it worked to get us
8.3%8.254% unemployment. The degree to which Team Obama is finding it difficult to negative campaign against Ned Flanders speaks volumes.
