It’s hard for me to find numbers, like total spending or revenues. I take it that the California budget is around $200B, near an all-time high, so a cut of $16B would be around 8%.
There’s also a ballot petition going around for increases in sales and income taxes to help with this “crisis.”
I like the suggestions by poster “Severely Ltd”, except instead of the Capone; I’d go with the Bozo. No way I can beat the LaBrea for California.
California has already gone to an alternate currency for brief periods of time. They paid public employees with promises to pay and banks would cash them. Isn’t that the sound of wood just before it breaks?

I have to admit it seems well written, with sunset clauses and no pork that I noticed. Somebody must be scared.
I’m still going to vote “No.” Let the state take an 8% haircut, which apparently Gov. Brown is now planning for.
