Romney 44%, Obama 39%, Ron Paul 13%.
That looks like a pretty big majority for smaller government. Interestingly, it’s very similar to the 1992 result with Perot, except this time, it’s the Democrat who’s hurt by the third candidate. I suspect that this is because Paul picks up a lot of the youth vote that would otherwise go to Obama, with whom they’ve become disenchanted. Maybe the Republicans should urge Paul to run.
Heh. Rand, I think you should bump the “good news for Indiana” post on sore loser laws, so that it is juxtaposed with this post, for maximum thought-provoking power!
But if Ron Paul steps aside then that 13% of voters would naturally go over to Obama, because Obama is so loved and appreciated and the people owe their very lives and souls to The One…
…and because Romney is rich, spoiled, and he hates women and he’s a Mormon and the Mormons want a Theocracy and multiple wives, and we are supposed to hate Romney because Romney is rich, spoiled, and he hates women and he’s a Mormon and the Mormons want a Theocracy and multiple wives, and we are supposed to hate Romney because Romney is rich, spoiled, and he hates women and he’s a Mormon and the Mormons want a Theocracy and multiple wives, and we are supposed to hate Romney….
Don’t forget Robot.
How much more Robotic can you get than believing Obama has done ANYTHING worthwhile?
I can’t see a single Paul vote going to B-Ho…
Eh, I easily can. Remember that principled libertarians are a minority of Paul’s supporters; Obama gets the votes of the college freshmen pissed that they can’t get drunk at the titty bar, the Petulant Lefties so interested in protesting against The Man that they embrace The Cynophage, and the moonbat wing of the Stormtruther brigade.
Also don’t forget the John Anderson race of 1980s. As a “liberal Republican” he was supposed to hurt Reagan’s chances, and instead provided a safe place to go for the Dems and Lefties who couldn’t stomach the idea of four more years of the Peanut Farmer’s moralizing incompetence.
Makes sense that Obama would lose some of his voters to a libertarian style 3rd party candidate. Look how many he lost to a federal inmate in WV.
