…and why it led them so far astray on ObamaCare. My latest is up at PJMedia.
[Update a while later]
ObamCare, and how nice people crush freedom:
…there’s always a good reason to take your freedom away — your health, the poor, your evil opinions, the lousy way you raise your kids — and never a reason to preserve freedom except the love of freedom itself. Thus, so often, the people destroying the American way of life are actually nice people who just want to help.
The paving stones of the road to perdition…
It’s a case of flying blind. They already know the right answers. It reminds me of a poster I was arguing with who claimed that the two worst (in his opinion) Supreme Court decisions, Citizens United v. FEC and Kelo v. New London were both decisions by the “hard right”. I guess only the conservative would be brute enough to make these decisions. It was with considerable glee that I informed him that his darlings on the court were responsible for Kelo.
I bring Kelo sucker up all the damn time.
And for Citizens United, I point out that “the corporation” they’re so hot about is -three- people. Three people make a movie and get the FEC on their back? That sounds good?
who understood the mindset
There’s your problem right there. They don’t. We do. It’s time we take the fight to them.
I disagree that the Obama administration consists of “nice people.” From the president on down, it is populated with resentful, hate-filled people just itching to impose their will by force on everyone else.
There is genuine evil in this world. Good people often fail to recognize it. Those people end up suffering for it. I am really sick of the apologists.
I thought Obama was a nice guy until the Rev. Wright videos surfaced.
The only thing that I can think of that’s worse than someone who IS oriented toward hate; it’s someone who THINKS they aren’t, but who is in fact, so obviously full of hate, envy and loathing.
And it’s not just the WH crowd or the elected officials (D), it’s the left in general. If you think they don’t hate, go reread the Dick Cheney tweets. Go look at what’s been written or said about Zimmerman and Martin. And that’s just the last 10 days, FCOL!
And at the top of the list of lib / socialist / (self deluded) haters, is BHO. Stop and think about what THIS man, the most powerful man in the free world as POTUS, has said and has not said about America and Americans.
It’s all negative or hate filled.
UNTIL it’s time for HIM to cover HIS @$$. Then, oddly, it’s about how HE didn’t do anything wrong.
But we all did. Through OUR obvious greed, racism and hate.
I agree with the comment that it is not over yet.
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
One of the points Jonah Goldberg was making when he put a smiley-face on the cover of “Liberal Fascism”.
I’m impressed by your statesmanship to try to teach people you disagree with how to make better arguments.
I guess using Justice Kagan as a red team was a bad idea.

I wish all the nanny-state leftists would go there. 🙁
