  1. Bob remains a polarizer. I’ve heard him speak where he touches on some of these topics. The book ought to be interesting…definitely controversial.

      1. I kid because he’s obsessive. Though I was very impressed with Mars Direct when he proposed it. It’s nice to see some different thinking on occasion.

  2. A couple of days ago WUWT had a post about Burt Rutan slamming CAGW supporters.

Aerospace engineering must teach something about critical thinking skills and data analysis.

    1. The thing is that Burt Rutan has some degree of street cred on this question. I had read that at one time his “daily driver” was a GM EV-1 electric car, and when GM took those all back off of lease, he reverted to the first-generation Honda Insight. Burt Rutan impresses me as one of those engineering geek types who appreciates engineering perfection in the form of high fuel efficiency; I don’t see him as one of those Right Wing Troglodytes driving some gas guzzling mega SUV just to tweek the Lefties.

So when Burt Rutan tells the Warmists, “Get offa my lawn!”, there is some conviction behind his beliefs.

      1. Maybe there is a geographical bias but where I live people use their trucks and SUV’s. They aren’t a status symbol of the owner’s disdain for the lefties but a tool and an enabler of a higher standard of living. There is an appreciation for what the engineering of a truck allows them to do.

        1. I guess on his planet they’re called “Right Wing Troglodytes”, but we just call them soccer moms.
