Clearly the US dollar zone needs to be broken up into a northern and a southern dollar zone.
One of the things that article misses on state to state movement is the effect on the states those companies GO to.
Here in NC, they generally get money to entice them in, either as bags of cash outright, tax incentives or both. The incoming company AND the state crow about ‘creating’ hundreds of jobs. BUT they leave out the fact that they move as much as 90% of their old workforce. And they invariably wind up hiring only low level positions, no management and few engineering types.
My Mrs works for the Dept of Commerce,so her e-mail often has news of incoming companies before the MSM knows. And we’ve booked a bunch from CA and other places. But we’ve lost more than we’ve gained, the laid off employees draw unemployment here, often after being back in the work force less than a year, the tax incentives get paid even after they leave, and in he long run it’s costing those of us long time residents for the privilege of watching all this like it’s a traveling snake oil show.
Worse still, I hate it here. I used to love CA. And I hate to see what either of these states have become, and most of it can be laid at the feet of stupid voters electing stupid spend thrift prog / lib Democrats!
CA revenues continue to crash. This will not end well.
