  1. Mark Zuckerman and other social network sites have talked about the “transparent society” and the end of privacy and how privacy is an archaic idea. They have designed Facebook to monitor your browsing habits. However, one thing they will NOT do is to allow your facebook page to display whomever has ever looked at it. They want to keep the Facebook lurkers anonymous. Ending the anonymity of the lurkers would completely destroy Facebook within a month.

  2. My older son tried to delete his FB account. All it would let him do is “deactivate” it. A month later, FB “reactivated” his account without asking him. There’s no escape…

When the service is free, you become the product. I never have had a Facebook (or any similar service) account and doubt I ever will. For one thing, I just don’t see the attraction. Then there’s the privacy issue. Not that there’s much privacy left anymore but I choose to preserve what little I can.

Random thought: If Zuckerman is right and privacy is an archaic idea, does that undermine Roe v. Wade?
