The most interesting thing was the lack of interference by the “open minded” fans.
Back in grade school, to make the point that words had power, on the first day of semantics and logic class the teacher would prearrange to berate one of the students with a tirade until he’d get a response from another student.
I was unable to sit in my seat even though during the tirade he’d say, “it’s ok Ken” and such. My brain just couldn’t process the conflicting messages. Nobody else in the class seemed to have this problem. I am just unable to sit still while a bully attacks a victim. I have to get between.
Some part of my mind must have known this was only a demonstration; but that awareness didn’t seem shared by any other person in the class. They all seemed to shrink from the situation.
He told us after, that a football player years earlier had gone after him physically. Yes, words and deeds can have power.
I agree that the lack of response is the most interesting thing.
