Senator Hutchison can’t retire soon enough for me. As a commenter notes, there’s nothing in her press release about actually accomplishing anything in space. It’s all about the jobs.

Hey Rand…couldn’t resist posting this here:

Do we get to pick? I’ll take Ralph Hall.. preferably in the billiard room with the lead pipe.
Not a NASA report.

assembly-line manufacturing? Why that’s just crazy talk Ed. You want reduced costs while improving reliability or something? Don’t you know safety only comes if you use a single engine operating at 110%? 🙂
Incremental improvements are giving us a 53mt capability. Now all we have to do is use that capability wisely. The Saturn V was nice, except for the army required to support it. As Pournelle said, it was an army because it was meant to be. But it wasn’t meant to make economic sense.
This is the perfect test of how broken our government now is.
Oh, and that guy can’t count. It’s 28 engines.
On the aliens-may-destroy-humanity-over-greenhouse-gases, Daniel Foster has a hilarious corner post.
