  1. Individual rights, they firmly believed, should not be allowed to stand in the way of collective progress.

    Fixed that.

  2. Three generations of imbeciles are enough

While I can appreciate the sentiment, especially if the taxpayer has to pay for their care, enforced sterilization by the state is to me little more acceptable than death penalty by the state (a slightly more extreme form of sterilization). The article describes the complete abuse of such power by the state.

Having said that, there has been a very significant advancement in minimal side effect male birth control. A simple injection that lasts ten years and is easily reversible by another injection:

While I am completely against this being forced upon people, it might perhaps be linked to financial incentives without inhibiting personal freedom. For example, there is an argument for making this readily available and then ramping up child support payments for absent fathers of children on welfare – carrot and the stick.

  3. What a pity Holmes Jr. wasn’t born in Bonn instead of Boston. A mind like that, free of the tiresome chains of conscience and empathy, could have achieved so much more were it also liberated from the constraints of serving a constitutional republic. If nothing else, he could have participated in a far more successful effort to purge society of undesirables.
