Are we about to see a revolution in photography? If it works, I would expect prices to plummet eventually.

It sacrifices some resolution on the imaging device, but gives some nice depth of field effects.
Yeah I was bored with digital photography too. So you know what I did? I went back to film. And as a bonus, doing so got me more interested in my digital camera.
As for this new thing — well, I’m retro, so to me it just seems like a gimmick. Also, is this photography, or something closer to video? I can see where you could do interesting things with it, though. But it seems to be more for obsessives who are always trying to “capture the perfect moment” (as the article puts it). Me, I’m more of a “take random shots, see how they come out” picture taker. And I hate tweaking with my photos — image editing dreariness was one thing that turned me off of photography.
Here’s my question, will they create a camera that takes the picture when I push the (2, 3, 4…flash) BUTTON!!!? OR, like many of them, will there be a not so (2, 3, 4…flash) subtle DELAY?
I’ve bought several of these as gifts, a couple I paid BUCKS for. And I’m still sticking with my 30 + Y/O Ricoh, slr, film type camera. It takes the picture WHEN I want it to, not a half second or a second later.
If I’m taking pictures of the g-kids or birds in the backyard, or clouds or anything that’s not a Still Life, tim (2, 3, 4…flash) ing is a factor for me. Thus far, I hate digital cameras.
Yeah, I have looked at the ‘better’ models. I found one that was slr film-like camera in it’s quickness, it was almost $1000. I don’t have that kind of money for a camera.
Yeah one thing that irritates me about the digital is that delay when you push the shutter button. Fortunately I don’t take many action shots (except of my cat, and I swear she’s figured me out and knows just when to move to spoil the photo).
No, I think the focusing after the fact is a big deal. Lots of times I shot a picture that was just eh but if it were just a little sharper to see what was really going on it would be great. But the fact that people can hardly tell the difference between 4 megapixel and 16 means that those latent pixels can be put to use doing other more useful tasks. So, really your getting more bang for the buck; or your megapixels worth.
Of course, even if this works it will still need a photographer with some skill and artistic imagination to take decent photos.
FC,
the best advice to anyone who can’t take a picture I got from a pro. First. don’t ‘stage’ them, take candid pictures. Takes LOTS and LOTS of shots, pick out the jewels.
