  1. I rather the Administration didn’t say as much and CBS didn’t know. I understood for a long time why SEAL teams are covert and the value of covert missions. Just because the mission is over, it doesn’t mean everything that was covert should now be public knowledge. All that was needed was:

“Osama was killed today by US forces per my direction. His body was buried in a location that will not be disclosed. I want to congratulate the diligence of our men and women in the State and Defense Department as well as the members of the Intelligence community.”

Do that, and then hit the campaign trail and pat your back for making the “gusty call”. But don’t put our good men and women in jeapardy of having to later defend their actions for a “gutsy call” you made.

  2. Within the limits of operational security, we don’t need to know any of the specifics that could reveal special operations tactics. It shouldn’t be too difficult to sort out the big issues.

  3. Sir Winston Churchill always said the truth was so important it’s must be guarded with a bodyguard of lies. What better way to confuse folks then by changing accounts? Beside it helps keeps the anti-Obama bloggers busy:-)
