Iowa, even after losing a seat in Congress, drew its new district maps in near-record time, passing the Republican State House, Democrat-controlled State Senate, and Republican Governor’s approval on the first try. Not sure if it’s because they were drawn by an independent committe, or what, and most people still aren’t sure how it happened so quickly and painlessly.
That’s a pretty good measure. There are some issues (such as determining where people actually are), but it looks better than the current approach which has resulted in some remarkable abominations.
