    Pure win.

  2. I’m no fan of Trump, but Steyn has no credibility when talking about cowardice. His entire schtick is, “America is doomed, there’s nothing we can do about it, why even try?” He didn’t even mention the Tea Parties for the first several months. Ironically, while he now talks about how our excessive spending DOOMS!!!111!!!! us, in the mid-Oughts he was saying that we should ignore candidates’ apostasy on spending, and only vote for pro-war candidates regardless of anything else they supported. Basically, he’s a highly paid crybaby.

  3. Personally I’d prefer Alex Jones of Prison Planet as Trump’s running mate, to provide the intellectual heft that the Donald lacks. (I must confess; I like some of the stuff that PP puts out, as a counter to the Kos Kids, etc.) I’d pay money to see Alex doing a smackdown on Ol’ Joe Biden…
OTOH, the probable GOP nominee is Romney. 2016 is a long ways off.

  4. Isn’t there a requirement in the Constitution to become President on Natural Born Hair? I don’t think any President (OK, OK, since the time of George Washington) has had any manner of hair prothesis or chemically induced comb-over.

Come to think of it, with Joe Biden as Vice President who would replace the President, we are within a hair-breadth of a Constitutional Crisis.

  5. Isn’t there a requirement in the Constitution to become President on Natural Born Hair?

Ever since Michelle became first lady, hair requirements have been relaxed

  6. Does anybody doubt that if Trump doesn’t get the republican nomination he’ll go independent and split the vote? (but only if his tiny ego thinks he can win… yeah, that’ll keep him out.) Anybody got Ralph Nader’s number?

You can’t let matter react with antimatter! Trump may be a statist, but he’s someone who has actually started businesses. You can’t let someone like that in the same room with Nader!

Then again, if we could contain and harness the explosion we could lessen our dependency on foreign oil. Or develop another means of heavy lift.

  8. I don’t really want Trump for president. I do give him credit for saying, after 9/11, that the best memorial would be to rebuild the Twin Towers stronger and higher than before. I do not know of any politician who’s had the cojones to say that in the near-decade since the attack, and if he makes that part of his platform I suspect he may win the Republican primaries.

  9. Just FYI to all the Trump bashers here.

    Palin: Media Treats Trump Unfairly

[[[Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she respects real estate mogul Donald Trump and he is getting a raw deal from the media who question his interest in President Barack Obama’s place of birth. ]]]

[[[“Well, first, I do have respect for Donald Trump and for his candidness — I think people are craving that today, in the world of political speak . . . coming out of the White House,” Palin said. “And the confusing messages that come from so many of our politicos — we appreciate that Donald Trump is so candid.]]]

If would make an interesting election if, after both lose the Republican Primary, they decide to go rogue together and run as a Tea Party ticket – Trump/Palin 2012. They do seem to be on the same frequency…

  10. I see Spatula still has a crush on Sarah Palin, bringing her up in conversation whenever he can.

  11. Oh Titus, give the poor troll a break. He’s upset that his token Republican Senator, the one that he can say he voted for so as to buttress his creds as a staunch Republican, is resigning.

  12. Leland,

I never had the chance to vote for him as his last election was before I moved here. But his resignation is not a surprise as it basically ensures that Sharon Angle is locked out of the election for both the Senate and House seats so they will go to actual Republicans, not Tea Party candidates pretending to be Republicans to get the Republican Robot Voters.

Yes, the Republicans in the state are not going to let her and her out of state gang of Tea Party supporters mess up another election as she did last year. I expect similar moves are being made around the country to purge the Tea Party candidates from the Republican Party, just as the Republicans purged the John Birchers from the party in the 1960’s. Look for a lot of the Tea Party House Representatives to be one-term wonders 🙂

  13. “Yes, the Republicans in the state are not going to let her and her out of state gang of Tea Party supporters mess up another election as she did last year.”

I think Palin had a better record of the candidates she supported being elected than Obama.

“Look for a lot of the Tea Party House Representatives to be one-term wonders”

If the Tea Party candidates don’t do what they were elected to do, they should get the boot. Keeping an eye on Republicans has been a message of the Tea Parties. Isn’t it just the smallest bit refreshing that people are holding their own party accountable?

  14. Wodun,

[[[I think Palin had a better record of the candidates she supported being elected than Obama.]]]

    Evidence? Numbers please.

Remember Palin’s puppets lost Senate elections in Nevada and Delaware that were considered slam-dunks for Republicans…

  15. Nevada and Delaware were slam dunks?????? Not even in the Bearded Spock universe.

The Delaware results prove beyond all doubt that Christine O’Donnell is indeed not a witch.

You want numbers? Dude, have you not noticed that Pelosi is no longer Speaker?

  16. Alan,

In Nevada polls showed that any Republican that was run against Senator Reid would have won, except for Sharon Angle. That is why they are making sure she will not have a chance to run again…

While the results in Delaware show that Christine O’Donnell lost a Statewide race to the Democrats for the third time in a row. Whereas Governor Mike Castle had already won a state wide race in the state.

Now tell, who do you think had a better chance to win a state wide race for Senator, someone who had already won one, or someone who never won one?

  17. Castle could win statewide races before the federal deficits reached apocalyptic proportions. He would have lost this time around, because grassroots conservatives will not tolerate half-measures anymore. The cost of defending business as usual is just too great.

If the Republican leadership would WORK WITH THE (insert colorful Quentin Tarantino adjectives here) GRASSROOTS, they’d have had a better shot at those races. A little cooperation to find someone both principled and electable.

I don’t remember Angle’s negatives, so I can’t say anything about that race except that a primary challenger capable of beating Angle (by attracting conservatives) and Reid did not surface. O’Donnell comes across as a lightweight, a perception enhanced by her wimpy handling of Witch-gate. (She should have started playing “I Put A Spell On You” at campaign appearances.)

The Tea Party electoral revolution has just begun, and you can’t expect all the battles to be won. The GOP did gain Senate seats, so more was gained than lost.
