People ask “What’s the exit strategy?” For Obama, it’s to hang it around Hillary’s neck. That (that it’s Hillary’s idea) might even be true.
Much good it will do him.
Holy shift. If you’re right, ‘Star, that means Obama’s political calculus in 2011 includes the danger of a primary challenge in 2012.
Gosh, I wonder why that might be?
As bonus a sideshow to this whole fiasco, it seems that we may be witnessing the dissolution of NATO. Way to go Barry.
Well, he said he was uniting the whole world. He just didn’t know it would be in the belief he hasn’t got a clue or a backbone.
I think Dark is right, but not that The O plans to hang failure or even blood around the Hill’s neck. I think he’s assuming renomination, and, really, who could successfully primary him? I don’t think Hillary is viable. She’s just past her sell-by date at this point. Obama’s Legion of Youth will for the most part not even have been born when she became FLOTUS.
But what O-man needs is for disgusted Hillary voters, in particular older married women and some retirees, to stay home in disgust in the general election. That would be fatal. There aren’t enough blacks, twentysomething metrosexuals, BoingBoing fanboys, and college professors of sociology to elect him otherwise.
So I think this bit of flexing is a way to woo them back. See? I can be just as tough as Hillary. Really, I’m her heir, we’ve got chemistry here, you and me, can’t you feel it?
Carl’s thinking is similar to the one that Jeff G. expressed here:
