Union Thugs

destroy recall petitions:

This video was shot minutes after a union advocate destroyed several petitions at a recall Jim Holperin Rally in Merill, WI. The event was moved to the court house grounds because the private location originally slated to host the event was threatened with arson. It should be noted that police were present when the protester destroyed these recall petitions, but stated to us that there was nothing they could do about it.

But don’t call them fascists. We have to get rid of public-employee unions, particularly when they’re supposed to be enforcing the law.

[Update a few minutes later]

More union thuggery, and double standards:

In the spirit of the “new tone” some union protesters took it upon themselves to invade the Commerce, Labor and Agriculture Senate Committee room in the Tennessee state capitol. As one of the demonstrators said, “I see civil disobedience as an obligation that we have when we see injustices in the world.” That is an interesting point of view. The left can’t stand it when the right simply gathers on the grounds of a building in protest, but they find it to be their duty to invade an actual committee hearing and disrupt the proceedings at will for their issues.

Remember when the Tea Partiers invaded the US Capitol, and disrupted proceedings?

Me, neither.

[Update a few minutes later]

Mob rule is not democracy, now or in ancient Rome.

[Update on Thursday afternoon]

Now it’s getting personal — an ugly message to Ann Althouse and Meade:

WE WILL F**K YOU UP. We will throw our baseballs in your lawn, you cranky old pieces of s**t, and then we will come get them back. What are you gonna do? Shoot us? Get Wausau Tea Patriots to form an ad hoc militia on your front lawn? That would be fucking HILAROUS to us. You could get to know the a***oles on your side in real f**king life instead of sponging off the civil society we provide for you every single day you draw breath.”

Words not masked in original. And you know what’s ironic? To the degree that these children think about it at all, they probably think that we’re the fascists.

[Bumped]

[Evening update]

Meade isn’t cowed by the thugs. What I find most dismaying is that these pathetic creatures are teaching our children.

  1. A local TV station did a report of the WI event and the union spokesman talked about how they were there to ensure peaceful protest and the right to be heard or some claptrap like that. Of course the interview was across the street from where they had been behaving like…well, union thugs.

  2. It should be noted that police were present when the protester destroyed these recall petitions, but stated to us that there was nothing they could do about it.

Clearly they need their own private security, NBP-style. The AG already gave his blessings, amirite?

  3. Perform a Citizen’s Arrest in front of the cops to prevent the felony tampering with the petitions. No, it won’t go well. Remember to account for multiple hidden and exposed cameras. Announce the intention in advance.

  4. Rand et. al. need to embrace multicultural vales and respect and must stop imposing their elitist cultural values on union members who are simply expressing their decades old culture of thuggish behavior.

It’s mind blowing in this era of digital technology how much has come to light that was never, ever reported in the era of newspaper and network TV dominance over what information got reported and what was spiked.

  5. Walker’s AG should start filing charges against all these cops failing to enforce the law.

If they were doing their job, that protester’s face would be on Smoking Gun by now.

  6. That video isn’t very good. They really need to catch the indecent on tape if they want people to believe what they are saying. It would have been helpful if they had a close up of the torn paper at least.

  7. They really need to catch the indecent on tape if they want people to believe what they are saying.

I don’t think it matters — petitions were either vandalized or they weren’t. It’s not a “he said, she said” — the truth will come out. Further, if the video is bad, the trolls will (1) complain that the video proves nothing and (2) change the subject to “teabaggers.” If the video is good, they will skip to step 2.

  8. I have family in Madison. It’s tempting to take a week and sit in their yard at night, waiting.

  9. The sicking part is that this attitude comes from the top down within the unions. How many clips does Glenn Beck have now of various rally’s where the leadership is telling the members to go get in their face, if the power of persuasion doesn’t work then use the persuasion of power. Unions have a long bloody history so I’m too surprised that they are acting this way. If you think about it has been a while since they have had a major violent outburst. This generation is probably etching to have themselves a good whompin’ time so they can have memories like gran’pa used to tell.

Starting from the very top (i.e., the union-loving president).

  11. I should add that if you do plan to write, you might want to grab a screenshot of the thing before you do. I would be quite surprised if this isn’t taken down pretty quick.

  12. Why are you all taking an ironic tone, instead of hunting this demon down and dealing him justice?

  13. My rule is simple: Anybody who enters my property without my explicit permission or legal warrant will be considered a threat to my family and dealt with appropriately.

But then again I’m an asshole from East Dallas, and, as the kids say these days, “that’s just how I roll”.

  14. Note that the Althouse commenters already have a name, address, and pictures of the potential perps. There’s a lot of commenters there, and many of them live in the area. Then there’s the issue of her being a lawyer, who also has taught many lawyers. Some people are about to learn that the first amendment may protect their freedom of speech about the government, but all that ends when the speech is against other citizens.

  15. Why are you all taking an ironic tone, instead of hunting this demon down and dealing him justice?

Ken, you ought to leave this dealing justice stuff to the grown ups. If you look at the actual concrete threats the author issued, such as harassment and trespass, these are things that usually would be settled in court.

  16. Agree with B and Karl. If you go look at the pictures of the perps; attacking them or worse shooting them would seem way inhumane. They look pretty weak, and probably thought their superior brain power made them clever. These people don’t need to be assaulted. They need to be mocked, and if that fails, then put them in jail for the threats they made.

  17. Why are you all taking an ironic tone, instead of hunting this demon down and dealing him justice?

Because once the violence starts, there’s no way to know how that’s going to shake-out. You may be itching for CW2, but the rest of us are not.

  18. This is the same thuggery they tried to use when seeking a vote on unionization. I saw it at Kaiser-Frazer when they they unionized them and when thry triee to unionize Holloman AFB. I Joined NARFE because they were a lobbying group and successfully so, still. They work at it using a civil tongue and logical argument, not expletives and threats. I am a life member. Bob

  19. Interview with the bong-hitter.

That title looks like a twisted convergence of Anne Rice and the Harold and Kumar movies. Which wouldn’t be nearly as twisted as the real-life interviewee.
