The assassination in Pakistan definitely has more global import than Saturday’s violence, but I’m not convinced that discussion of it here would influence the course of events in that benighted country.
Is it naive to entertain hope that the openness of the current debate might shame a handful of our self-important “public servants”and talking heads into taking an honest look at the poisonous, lying attacks they’ve unleashed, and toning down the political nastiness a notch? Probably. Nevertheless, as tainted with ghoulishness as the conversation may seem at this particular time, exposing the hypocrisy is an exercise I approve.
“…to spend hour upon hour collating and cataloguing examples of equally intemperate Leftist rhetoric–as if it was some kind of competition with a prize at the end–as it is for those on the Left to do it.”
It is defensive but what is the alternative, sit there and be branded as an accessory to mass murder? Maybe it is childish tit for tat but silence really isn’t an option.
I doubt the assassination in Pakistan would have been more than a passing mention in our media because that is not the narrative they want to push.
