+1. eBook reader programs allow me to have books like Liberal Fascism with me without enduring harassment at the college I work at.
E-books are wonderful for authors and readers. Self-published authors get 70% royalties — many times what they get in traditional publishing, if they can get published at all — and readers get lower prices. The intermediaries at big publishing houses and especially the big box bookstore chains don’t do as well.
Not unrelated: Borders has just started delaying payments to its suppliers, including large publishers. This is a red flag indicating bankruptcy may not be far away.
Another thing e-books do is let you read large quantities of out of copyright material at very low cost (often, free). This cannot help but bring classic thought back into current culture. For example, I’ve been enjoying reading the works of G. K. Chesterton.
Read Ben Franklins autobiography (free) via Kindle reader (free) on my Android phone and am currently reading Theodore Roosevelts “Rough Riders” via same.

Hey, maybe people will feel free to read The Holy Bible again.
