Here’s yet another fact-free and logic-free “conservative” critique of the new space policy, this time over at Human Events. It’s got it all.
Claims that NASA funding is going to be diverted from space exploration to climate change? Check.
Claims that NASA funding is going to be diverted from space exploration to Muslim self esteem? Check.
Assertion that we cannot get back to the moon without a heavy-lift vehicle? Check.
Nonsensical allusions to the Columbus/Isabella metaphor? Check.
Nonsensical claims about spin-off, including Tang? You got it.
I suppose I should see if I can rebut over there.
I’m with you except the first bullet. Goddard is already staffing up compared to the other centers. I don’t see any difference from Obama’s policy and Gore’s “Mission to Planet Earth” endeavors. If your argument is that lots of money will still go to space exploration; then I agree. But a percentage is being moved from space exploration to climate change.
Yes, my point is that, contrary to the hysteria, we aren’t defunding exploration for climate change.
Rand, when the comments on a site include such gems as “I love science- fact based science though, not the garbage put out there by communist pigs- like the big bang and darwinism”, then I don’t think you need worry about that blog. The people involved are probably spending more effort not drowning on their own drool rather than influencing anyone.
