Mississippi Democrat Gene Taylor says that he voted for the other guy:
Reporter Maria Recio told The Hill that when Taylor was asked if he voted for the Democratic nominee in 2008, he said, “I did not vote for Obama. I voted for Sen. McCain. Better the devil you know.”
Like other conservative Democrats, the 11-term congressman has spoken out against party leaders such as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) during his reelection campaign and has argued the leadership has been too liberal.
And of course, he was saying that in 2008, and campaigning for McCain, right?
Oh, wait…
You believe him, don’t you? Me, neither. “D” stands for “Desperation.”
In before the usual suspects call Mississippi racist.
He might have indeed. Gene Taylor has always been a pretty conservative D, perforce, given his district. He’s a bit of a fossil, really, a Democrat teleported from 1948. He’s also rather an opportunist, and would have supported Jim Crow, too, I bet.
The up side might be that all the Democrat back pedalers might help the Republican majority repeal all the stupid stuff they agreed to over the last two years.
(yeah…and monkeys might fly outta…)
Sorry fella, if there is a “D” beside the name on the ballot this time, yer out.
Even if he voted for McCain, he is on record as voting for Pelosi as Speaker for the 110th and 111th Congress. His opponent is getting huge mileage out of that simple fact.
Actually, I might vote for California’s current secretary of state even though she is a democrat–she at least was clued in enough to ban the electronic voting machines the voters were stupid enough to authorize the state to buy.
Next election they’ll all say they were founding members of the tea party. I wonder how many will switch to (R) after this election. What they don’t realize yet is cleaning out the RINOs is on the to do list. There can be no compromise with those that will not defend the constitution and reduce the size of government.
