Some thoughts. Basically, we have to rein in spending, and grow the economy. These are things that the current regime doesn’t want to do, or doesn’t know how to, instead implementing policies that make things worse on both fronts. Maybe we can start to fix that in less than three months.

2. Create a fair deal for everybody instead of special deals for the politically connected
This would require surgery so radical it would kill the patient.
As much as I distrust the regulatory State in many ways, I also don’t really trust Congress to understand the nuance and ramifications of regulatory change. The fact is that the folks at the FCC just know their specialty better than the average Congress critter ever will, for lack of time if no other reason.
But I would LOVE to see a Tea Party influenced Congress demand that each member of the alphabet soup (which is allowed to continue its existence – buh-by Dept. of Education) submit a no-more-than-100 page regulatory handbook of plain english and broadly applied rules to completely replace the million-page Federal register that currently exists.
After all, Hong Kong went from backwater village to global center of finance with banking regulations about 10 pages long. That’s causal, not “despite.”

And the problem with that is what?
