It’s worth noting that some of these actions will directly make the problem worse. For example,
The second item we heard most often was that unnecessary federal permitting delays were making environmental and economic protection impossible. The marshes, waters and estuaries make up a complicated eco-system that protects south Louisiana from flooding and prevents oil from reaching inland. Yet, without the ability to build rock jetties, dykes and sand berms, the environment is going unprotected. Why? Because the left absurdly believes the protective measures might cause long-term damage, despite assurances that all measures are temporary, could be removed, and BP would pay for it. Ignoring this crisis in favor of a mythical one 30 years away must end, today.
Since the Federal government is shielded from liability, someone else will have to pay for these actions.
The lack of coverage is amazing. Anderson Cooper is the only one devoting any significant time to this.
That is unless you watch fishing shows on FSN or VS.
Obama’s commission examining the spill has no industry or local expertise, but is instead loaded with environmentalists searching for a justification to institute cap and trade energy taxes.
This is the part of this whole fiasco that has me the most irate. If Obama truly believes that this disaster is on par with 9/11 then he is hijacking the fear generated by this incident in much the same way the left accused GWB of using fear to wage his war on terror. At least George was effective in waging his war for whatever reason one feels motivated it. The only thing Obama has proven effective at so far is keeping his tee time. Imagine if George had said after 9/11, “look I know this attack is terrible and all but what do you expect from me? To use Superman’s x-ray vision to find Osama hiding in a cave? To fly through the air over to Afghanistan and slap a pair of cuffs on him?” With Obama he says, “Look I can’t just suck up all the oil with a straw like Superman, so I’m hitting the links, laters…” OMG I can’t believe what an insufferable twit we’ve elected into office.
Actually, I kinda agree with the Obama-and-straw line.
Given our understanding of the Constitution, what CAN he do? Isn’t him hitting the links in Maine the best?
