What they seek is not to wreck the economy, but to loot it — loot it so they can punish the most productive while using the proceeds of the looting to reward the less productive, i.e. to reward the Democratic party base that got Looter-in-Chief Obama elected.
Your confused, their not looting their liberating ill-gotten monetary gains from the rich and returning them to the (insert union) workers.
I can’t wait until they get rid of the mortgage deduction. I’m sure most of my neighbors here in silicon valley will have to forclose. When you suddenly pay thousands and thousands more in taxes, and you’re not getting a raise or lost your job. Stock options aren’t worth it… Where are they going to get the money? You have to budget for tax deductions when you buy out here. 😛
They don’t want to kill any recovery, the Demobrats and Obambi, they just don’t want a terribly strong economic rebound. They want enough jobs being produced to be able to point out to the voting public that they’re “on the job” when it comes to job creation, but at the same they don’t like the idea of a vigorous 1980’s or mid 1990s economic boom for two very understandable reasons. One, too much wealth is “unfair” since it’s being produced by those pesky private business people and two, too much prosperity would make people feel too independent, and therefore not craving all the favors the Dimocrats plan on handing out with the money they’re expecting from tax increases, including a VAT. Unfortunately for the Demorats, however, there is the very good chance that they may have put the cart before the horse. Americans, since they haven’t yet lived under the pleasures of a full-blown Euroland welfare state, still aren’t used to the tradeoff between high permanent levels of unemployment and lots of welfare goodies, which of course helps keeps the robber bureaucrats in power.

Can’t imagine why the Red Diaper Baby in the White House wouldn’t want a strong, prosperous USA.
Obama is a European. He wants a weak America.
Not only must we vote them out, we need to weed them completely out of America.
I know what to do; send them all to Gaza.
I still remember commenter Jim pointing out that Team Obama/Pelosi/Reid already figured they would lose seats in the midterms due to the economy, so they decided just to push through their agenda anyway. It was about winning votes to stay in power, and at least to Jim (and by his implication the President and Congressional Leaders) more important than the fiscal health of the nation.
Paraphrasing the scorpion’s comment to the frog; “It’s their nature”.
