At first, I thought it was the cargo bay of Serenity.
Lovers of RGMs should also look up “Pythagoras Switch”, a series of jewel-like RGMs made as teasers for a Japanese kids’ show. Brilliant work.
Another RGM of note, which I believe is referenced here by the ball bearing jumping out of the speaker, is the Honda “Cog” commercial.
My favorite visual pun here is the rain of umbrellas, especially in contrast with the yellow umbrella sun, the rising of which is heralded by a plaster saint ascending to heaven.
The entire sequence ran successfully three times. The video was spliced (after the water machine, as the curtain pulls aside to reveal the Japanese window shades) from two of the good runs to get the best possible aesthetics.
The car is from Make magazine, which was also heavily involved in the project, and which has an article up on it.
The red toy pickup truck that starts the sequence has the logo of State Farm Insurance, which sponsored the video.
