AP interviews people who are disappointed by Barack Obama. The oxymoronity of these people (a “fiscal conservative,” and a Ron-Paul libertarian who voted for him) is staggering.

Be fair, Rand. I didn’t vote for the guy and even I’m astounded at the energy and suddenness of his collapse. As little confidence as I had in his ability to do the job, I nevertheless thought his handlers and the Dems running Congress would keep him from being this bad.
Little did I know he was just one of a vast herd of lemmings in donkeys’ livery.
My impression is that many Americans who say that they are “fiscal conservatives” or “moderates” or “independents” are doing so for the same reason that people routinely say that they oppose cruelty to animals. It’s a pose, an easy answer, not necessarily insincere but also often not based on much thought. They are for moderation, reasonableness, etc. in the abstract but default to habit in their voting patterns. They may expect their voting decisions not to have much effect either way. However, when the person they elected turns out to be significantly worse than they expected, particulary if these voters start feeling that they themselves are suffering as a result, they become more alert and start to take the next election seriously. This is the phenomenon that we now see. I’m sure that some of these people are fools, though I don’t think all them are. Many of those who are not will probably vote more carefully in the future. We saw something like this happen in the ’70s among people who are now called conservatives, neoconservatives and libertarians.
Never underestimate the power of BDS. I have an Obama voting friend, he even re-registered as a Democrat, who previously was very libertarian in outlook (and still claims to be). He even remains an AGW skeptic! Go figure.
Ah, one more thing. It might be more accurate to call many of those Obama voters suckers rather than fools. And a large portion of the success of the Obama con job can be laid at the feet of the establishment press power elite.
I would say our president is a decent, intelligent, and honorable man. My only disappointment is that he tries too hard to appease the party of “NO.”
We have become a nation of “I want it my way..and I want it my way now or I’ll scream and spew lunacy until I get my way.”President Obama has faced a crisis d’jour almost everyday of his presidency. I’m pleased with his level headed, intelligent, and thoughtful approach to maintaining and building this nation….
Hard to imagine that a Red-Diaper baby/Alinskyite, an associate of William Ayers, a member of a socialistic third-party with Howard Zinn, and a long-time congregant of Rev. Wright, would turn out to be such a left-winger, isn’t it folks?
In other news, scientists determine: “Water is wet.”
I have a conservative friend who voted for Obama on the grounds that “the worse, the better”. He’s hoping that Obama will do for Progressive Liberalism what Carter did, and so far his bet seems to be paying off.

I recall in the Sixties comedian Mort Sahl, on a talk show, dismayed at “progressives” who were voting for Nixon on the same grounds. Sahl called it “The Trotsky Theory.”
Brad, the Obamessiah was touted as all things to all people, remember? He was post-racial, post-partisan, post-post, post-nasal drip, stuffy, achy, fever, slices, dices, saws this tin can yet still cuts a tomato, bad credit, no credit – you cannot be turned down, money-back guarantee operators are standing by!
They should have known that he may cause headache, nausea, vomiting, death, dizziness, dysentery, cardiac arrhythmia, mild heart explosions, varicose veins, darkened stool, darkened soul, a 10-year-old kid wearing giant goggles running around a physical representation of the darkest corners of your mind you didn’t even know existed, lycanthropy, trucanthropy, arteriosclerosis, hemorrhoids, diabeetus, virginity, mild discomfort, vampirism, gender impermanence, spontaneous dental hydroplosion, sugar high, more vomiting, 401 errors, fallen armpits, Twonk’s Disease, spontaneous combustion, flaming ninjas, ninjas in bright orange jumpsuits, inverted cranium, electric guitars, poor speling, Narm, depression, suicide atempts, desire to help others, lack of capacity for self-pity, Colon Cancer, apocalyptic visions, apoplectic visions, Tony Danza, speaking in a badly done German accent, a desire to dance the Virginia Reel, explosive diarrhea, implosive diarrhea, five meta-points, bears, talking bears, headache, amnesia, warts, flatulence, demonic possession, wandering skin, bacon, eggs, tomato and spam, cranial inversion, fin rot, the jibblies, Dakka, seasonal allergies, null pointer exceptions, sleep crime, uncontrollably singing Three Dog Night songs, thinking that you’re good at Guitar Hero to impress girls, More Dakka, headache, exploding uvula syndrome, Laser Guided Amnesia, a desire to take over the world using eight reprogrammed robot masters, fluctuation of sexual orientation, the ‘dancing fingers,’ volatile malted milk impoundments, mass naked child events, emo hair, Chuck Norris, headache, convulsions, Seasonal Rot, nostalgia, furries, artificial insemination, losing The Game, temporary insanity, strange alterations in your alignment, permanent insanity, strong anger, and mild rash to name just a few.
I had a bad case of the Tony Danza’s one time…..I got better. Ay OHHHH!
Yeah, that kinda highlights the head-shaking induced in me by the self-identifying (in theory) Conservatives who said they were gonna vote for Obama as a protest against Bush spending too much.
It’s not a very effective protest against the Republicans to vote for Democrats who will make the thing you’re protesting worse. Now, sure, they talked a big line about “fiscal responsibility” in 2008, but who the hell was stupid enough to actually believe they’d follow through?
(The worst part about all this, but the most ironic, is that an Obama nosedive makes the KKK’s endorsement of him look tactically astute, in a twisted way.
As I recall, they endorsed him on the grounds that he’d fail spectacularly and make black people look bad.
They might well have gotten the first part of that prediction right, though I don’t think the second will happen, fortunately.)
I don’t know, Sig. Obama ran pretty explicitly on the, “because I’m black!” platform and he and his supporters have always claimed that opposition to him and his policies was rooted in skin color. It’s going to be pretty hard to divorice his failures from that.
Feel that rumbling in the ground? It’s MLK, spinning in his grave.
If you’ll permit the grumbling Titus, I’d like to point out that given his record on expanding F-22 production and opposing (though thankfully overruled) the backup F-35 engine, Obama’s “side effects” can hardly be described as “dakka,” let alone”MOAR DAKKA.” His foreign policy thus far can be summed up as “if at first you don’t succeed, bow, bow again.”

Whiplash and other repetitive motion neck injuries from second-hand Obama. Where’s the FDA when you need them?
Hmmmm…

“The center took 15 years and a long “conversation with the Lord” to become a reality. Now, Lewis asks: Shouldn’t we be willing to afford our leader the same courtesy?’

Does this statement mean that in 6 more years, they’ll revisit the Bush II years, or quit blaming him by then, and take a look at how things are, and give credit where credit is due, with respect to policies he put in place? And shouldn’t her statement TRULY say, ‘…leaderS…”?
Because currently only Dems get any breaks on nuance, past history, future results, or racial slur mis-speaks. Or will Harry Reid be GUILTY of racism, 15 years from now?
