It’s Obama’s turn. It amazes me how politically tone deaf these people are. But it’s of a piece with their competence in other areas, I suppose.

It’s worse than “my pet goat.”
In the case of bush, he simply knew that a plane crashed into the WTC building, clearly a very concerning situation, but there was no information just yet as to the cause. While it being an accident is highly unlikely, there was literally nothing the President could do mere moments after first learning the information. Also, bush was sitting in front of grade schoolers, and if I remember my time as a grade schooler, I likely would have had a poor reaction if the President suddenly jumped up and left the room without explanation. As it happened bush continued briefly, and then turned the lesson over to the teacher before he was supposed to, and casually exited the classroom while treating the children with calm and courtesy.
Obama appeared in front of a group more than an hour after the event, had a significant number of facts, though not all of them, and gave opening remarks with a “shout out” ignoring the key news of the day for three minutes while thanking various individuals and groups, like it was another campaign stop, and then in what was basically an aside, in the middle of his warm and fuzzy gathering briefly mentioned the events of the day, stressing a lack of “all the facts” and proceeding on to his gathering as though the mass murder of US Service members only deserves a single phrase in a long drawn out sentence filled with caveats.
MUCH worse than “My Pet Goat” and to insinuate so actually insults the calm and poise of a real President aware of his responsibilities, as opposed to a grotesque narcissist who can hardly be troubled to interrupt his I love me, and I love that you love me gathering of interest groups, he might need during an election.
