The Most Transparent Administration In History

That phrase is going to seem as ironic as the Clinton pledge to be “the most ethical one.”

The administration repeatedly has stiff-armed Congress, the media, outside organizations and even a prestigious independent government commission. It has raised “none of your business” from an adolescent rejoinder to a public policy – to keep the public in the dark.

What is most disgusting is the hypocrisy, after all the sanctimonious criticism of Bush and the Republicans. It’s akin to Nancy Pelosi’s pledge to “drain the swamp” of the Republican “culture of corruption.” Yeah, tell it to Chris Dodd and Charlie Rangel.

  1. Luckily for Obama, he won. That means he gets to Speak Truth to Power and do whatever the fuck he wants. Didn’t you get the memo?

The “rubes” are anyone who believes a word he says. The best way to predict his actions is to assume he’s got a WWMD bracelet that he consults regularly, where M stands for “Mussolini”. Wikipedia says:

Mussolini was among the founders of Italian Fascism, which included elements of nationalism, corporatism, national syndicalism, expansionism, social progress and anti-communism in combination with censorship of subversives and state propaganda.

Sounds familiar. And don’t forget the valuation of the lira!

  2. Speaking (typing) of transparancy, Pelosi’s health care (sic) bill is here, all two thousand pages. Ugh, just when I thought I’d get a free weekend…

  3. Honestly, I’m less upset with the lack of transparency (the light of day will eventually sign on the legislation when it becomes law, and face it, the Democrats really could do it without listening to anyone… for now), than I am the ongoing corruption. Lives have been ruined for commenting lesser tax crimes than what Rangel has done. But those were little people, without the influence of being the Chairmen of the House Ways and Means. It’s bad enough Rangel remains in Congress, but the fact that Democrats won’t even attempt to push him out the door, and the Press generally gives him a pass, is rather sickening.

  4. Obama did say he wanted morepower concentrated in “the wise men of Washington”..

Course what idiot would think a Chicago politician, famed for crony strong arm politics, and for remarkably fortuitous financial “gifts” “unrelated to any political expectations”, would bring in a era of transparency and cleanliness in gov?

  5. Great review.I would like to I heard on the news that a delay is customary when reporting a new prez’s economic numbers, as a way to keep out the numbers of the previous administration.Thanks.
