I blogged about this story already this morning, when Insty first linked to it. The deeper story in American politics (which this is just another example of) is how our electoral system continues to make it incredibly difficult for any faction to form outside the Democratic-Republican (aka, Washington) Party system.
Why should we even have to worry about Huckabee or McCain being the nonimee? Why do we continue to let the Washington Party present two only choices, as if there can only be two sides to any political issue? It doesn’t have to be this way, but the plurality-wins electoral system makes it so.
Ranged Voting is (mathematically speaking) the best way to choose a single-winner election. The sooner we switch to it the sooner the American people can actually vote for candidates that represent their interests.
