My piece on Sputnik and the X-Prize is up at PJM.
[Early afternoon update]
Related thoughts from Jeff Foust, over at The Space Review. I agree with him that, despite the five-year gap, we are now close to seeing the industry develop with some rapidity.
[Update a while later]
More thoughts from Matt Isakowitz at the Commercial Spaceflight Federation.
“…And it can be accomplished for a tiny fraction of the cost overrun on a typical NASA project…”
LOL. A well turned phrase indeed. But no, tell us how you REALLY feel. It was a good read Rand.
Rand, maybe slightly off topic, but in the spirit, an article in the October issue of PM Network, “http://www.pmnetwork-digital.com/pmnetworkopen/200910/” (starts on page 64) concering NASA problem solvers is a hoot. I especially liked this quote: “There are no consultants we can hire to solve our problems, so we had to learn to be innovative or we wouldn’t be able to get our rocket ships to fly.”
