Some thoughts from Eric Raymond. It is kind of amusing that the troll in the comments section stupidly thinks that “sounding like Fox News” is an insult.

I guarantee that unless the GOP takes every seat in the House and wins every Senate race the MSM will dismiss this as “a normal mid-term election”. If they miss taking back the House & Senate by 1 seat each the press will declare Obama the unquestionable victor. A Republican victory doesn’t fit the narrative, you see. It’s against the Natural Order of Things, like a dog that can talk or a horse that eats meat.
If the GOP does win it back, the MSM will call it a “tantrum” like Jennings did back in ’94. They did not characterise the ’06 election in such a manner, of course. The MSM’s bias is a given, and it’s not ground which can be won, thus (IHO) should not be fought for.
ESR (from my personal experience) is an asshole. But he is occasionally right. I do disagree with him in a couple of points. If Democratic voters are diminishing as ESR says, how come Obama won the election to begin with? Claims of voter fraud have been made against the other side of the political spectrum in the past as well. I guess it is just that he is having a bout of selective memory. That does not make any occurrences of foul play by the Democrats valid however.
PS: Fox News in a lot of places is a synonymous to a biased tabloid right-winged news outlet. It is considered little better than reading Pravda.
I’m just amazed at how fast everyone seems to turning on ACORN. It’s as if they were the town bully who no one wanted to confront. But once someone did, everyone else in town comes out of hiding to pile onto him, to get revenge for having to suffer the bully’s torments all those years. (A little lesson for the Left, as there are a lot of bullies in their ranks…)

You have to look really, really hard to find them. You can’t miss the Dems frauds. So equating the two is moral relativism in action. (Jim Miller has a number of postings on the subject, and notes that almost everyone involves a Dem. One of the reasons, it seems, is because vote fraud requires a political machine in an urban area, both of which are almost exclusively the domain of the Dems these days. Also note some of his postings on the potential for fraud with mail-in balloting as done in Oregon and the Upper Left Washington.)

By getting the votes of the “independents.” But recent polls show that the Dems have lost them. It may be pretty bloody for them next November.

Yes, it looks a lot like that. Once the blood is in the water, all the sharks turn on their own.

Given Fox’s rising viewership, I’d say this is more true about CNN and MSNBC on the left.
I’m going to tell all his friends that he forgot to spell it, “Faux News.”
Based on his comments further down, the ‘Fox News’ commenter isn’t troll, just wrong.

Godzilla asks “If Democratic voters are diminishing as ESR says, how come Obama won the election to begin with?” Simple: independents & libertarians either sat out, or voted for Barry (recall McCain was co-responsible for the McCain-Feingold suppression of Political Speech bill), while many conservatives stayed home, despite Sarah Palin’s charms. They say McCain as no better than Barry himself.
Why did independents and libertarians vote for Barry? Simple: he was a walking Rorschach test. People saw what they wanted to see.
As for his comment about Fox News, let me translate:
Fox News in a
lot of placesliberal enclaves like New York City, and Berkeley is synonymous to abiased tabloid right-wingednews outlet that gets better ratings than CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, and/or MSNBC, and that really pisses us off. It is considered little better than readingPravdathe New York Times, unless you’re a bitter, Bible-clinging, gun-lover…There. Much better!
