Considering how some people assessed Cash for (Some) Clunkers a success, the stimulus should be deemed a failure even if only because it wasn’t all spent in a matter of weeks.
All but a couple of the banks which (some unwillingly) took TARP funds have paid it back, plus interest, although they haven’t yet repurchased their warrants.
Does anyone know what happens to that money? Does it go into a revolving fund for further largesse? If it were mine, I’d retire some debt. But that would be prudent, therefore stupid.
I’m thinking there are a couple of shoes left to drop before we can begin to assess the efficacy of the bailout(s).
