I didn’t see the hearings myself, but I found the following optimistic comment by Rick Boozer at Space Transport News that I thought would be useful to pass along:

I didn’t start watching the proceedings until about 4:10PM EST. I will condense what I got from them in my own words.
Sen. Nelson tried to lead Bolden with a question wherein he stated that he was sure Bolden agreed with him that NASA’s problems could be cured by adding more money to any currently existing problematic areas. In response, Bolden told him that the only way for NASA to fulfill its mission is to rely more heavily on the commercial sector and that just allocating more government money to NASA will not accomplish its goals.
I think we’ve got us an administrator!
