I’ve gotten pretty tired of his continual distraction and obfuscation, and low S/N ratio.
How does the rest of the community here feel? I haven’t banned many commenters (I think they can be counted on one hand). What say you?

I don’t like banning, never have, unless there is outright offense.

Usually, jack just is contrarian for its own sake but Sometimes jack will come dangerously close to making sense and I wonder if the spark of redemption lies within him.
You know, when I first saw the title, my thought for soem reason was “Oh shit, Stan Lee has kicked the bucket” and then the light came on.
I would start making him put caps on his name, however. It makes me wonder if he suffers low self-esteem
I’m with Mike Puckett, sometimes he appears to make sense. Let him stay for now, but you’ve obviously put him on notice.
I hope you’ll let him stay. It cracks me up when you call any of us morons.

You’re a rational blogger and I think you owe it to your readers to delete irrational a–hole commenters.
Well, except for the occasional “me”. LoL!
Delete or not, but don’t ask us.
Much of the time his purpose in commenting on your site seems to be to derail the conversation. When he can stay on topic, he’s sometimes worth reading — if only as an example of the fact that not everyone shares our values. But when he goes off-topic (often to the tune of “Bush was worse!”) then I say his comments are a waste of pixels.
I think the best solution would be blog software that allowed each commenter to show/hide comments based on IP.
Rand, you are a pathetic grumpy old man. To think companies actually pay you money. But given most of it’s just recycled government money it’s as good as any other make work program. And the possibility of you actually getting a real job is so remote, it sadly does make it a necessary evil for our socialist welfare system to trickle down to you as well. Aging white male baby boomers living on the street is simply a bridge too far. Yer ban him. And me too while you’re at it. Moron.
I noticed that Jack Lee doesn’t have the guts to post under his normal name so he makes up one such as big man.
I think Big Man should be banned for being a rude SOB.
IMO, if he can’t learn how to post without those idiotic breaks in his sentences then get rid of him. Otherwise, it’s your blog and your call.

Agree, which is one of my big pet-peeves in any comments section. When any commenter shows this behavior repeatedly my preference would be encourage it to go elsewhere.
Your sandbox, your call. And your calls are usually pretty good, which is why I keep coming back.
He’s a troll, he walks the plank says I. Let em’ go play with his noble pirates since he is so fond of their abilities.
I think annoying commenters should get a quota. Inane comments are great conversation starters and help unify the readers. It is annoying, but sometimes fertilizer helps things grow.
On my site I would have probably banned him after his second comment. Maybe third.

Trolls destroy forums. Do not be hesitant about banning people who are contributing more N than S to the SNR.
In truth Jack has been far less unpleasant of late, and I echo the feelings of many here who are reluctant to ban anyone if for no reason to help us avoid the ‘echo-chamber effect’ that afflicts so many of the lefty blogs.
Perhaps a stern warning with the clear statement that this isn’t about ideology, but about manners, would be the best approach?

And a mirror to all the stupid blogs on the left side of politics. The extremism that is regularly displayed here is no different to the extremism found on left wing blogs. Both are as bad each other and Rand is simply a right wing example of extremist contrarian views being presented as considered comment when they are simply the rantings of a grumpy old man without a regular job.
